Find an Au Pair – Family InformationFree Family Registration Click Here
Unfortunately we are no longer taking registrations from new families as the supply of au pairs has decreased due to lack of government recognition of the au pair programme. The au pair profiles we are receiving will be offered to existing families only.
What is an Au Pair?
An Au Pair is a young person (usually aged between 18 and 30 years) from another European Union country to help a family with childcare and light housework while staying as a guest. They can improve their language skills and learn about the culture and lifestyle of the country. They are treated as a member of the family and included in family activities, meals, etc. Au Pairs receive weekly pocket money.
Why SK Dublin Au Pair Agency?
We have placed almost 3,000 au pairs. Our au pairs are interviewed in their home countries by our partner agencies and come fully vetted. They have chosen to be placed by a reputable agency and are not talking to multiple families though other websites. We visit you prior to the arrival of your au pair and give extensive advice so the placement goes well for all concerned. We introduce au pairs to others and organise monthly trips around Ireland. Details of these tours are available on our Facebook page “SK Dublin Au Pairs.”
Au Pairs’ Maximum Hours and Pocket Money
Despite the obvious benefits for au pairs, families, language schools and the country in general Ireland has not recognised the au pair programme in legislation. This lack of recognition and regulation means that genuine au pairs are seen as domestic workers by the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC). Whilst our au pairs do not enrol as, nor want to be domestic workers, the WRC insists that they are and minimum wage legislation should apply to them. The onus is on host-families to comply with wage regulations.
Standard rates of pocket money for genuine au pairs
25 hours plus 2 nights babysitting €120
30 hours plus 1 night babysitting €130
35 hours plus 1 night babysitting €150
Au Pairs must have Sundays free and one other day or two half days.
Besides childminding your au pair can assist with light housework (tidying, vacuuming, preparing simple meals, laundry, etc).
The au pair requires her/his own bedroom. A representative of SK Dublin will check the room prior to the au pair’s arrival.
All our Au Pairs are interviewed in their home countries by our partner agencies and their suitability is assessed. They provide references, police clearance and medical certificates.

“I have been taking Au Pairs from SK Dublin for about 5 years. We have had some great girls and are still in touch with them. I have always found the agency to be friendly, helpful, understanding and there when needed. I have recommended them to my friends”.
